Dinner To Your Door is still operating as usual, delivering freshly-prepared meals to our customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to some grant funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, we are now offering the service to residents of Dornoch and Embo on a Monday to Thursday.
Bringing Meals on Wheels back
Malnutrition in older age is a big issue and is a major cause of hospital admission and general poor health and well-being. For a number of years, our area hasn’t benefited from a regular service providing pre-prepared hot meals to local residents. The move away from delivery of hot meals to the provision of ready-prepared frozen meals may, in some cases, be helpful, but for those who are unable to use a microwave, the meals are often left to build up in the freezer.
To fill this gap we run a Dinner To Your Door service – for those who find it difficult to prepare themselves a good meal each day, as well as those simply wishing to enjoy a locally-cooked meal in the comfort of their own home. Meals are cooked by our chef at Portgower Village Hall and can be delivered, for a reasonable fee, to the door of any local residents.
We deliver to Helmsdale, Portgower, Loth, Brora, Golspie, Dornoch and Embo on Mondays to Thursdays. On Fridays we offer our Grab ‘n Go Bag service.
