Discovery Walks

Throughout 2022, we are running monthly Discovery Walks with the aim of encouraging people within our communities in East Sutherland to reap the benefits of being outdoors and discovering their local area, noticing things they have never seen before, and making new friends.

We have two sets of the walks, Discovery Walks and our Dog-Friendly Discovery Walks.

Discovery Walks

These walks take in a variety of the most beautiful areas of East Sutherland. Previous walks have taken in the Helmsdale Lobster Ponds and Dunrobin Castle. Each member of the group is provided with a journal which they can fill with anything they like that has inspired them on their walks throughout the year. Painting materials and pencils are also provided and group members are supported to unleash their creative side in their journals. To join email art@connectingcommunties.co.uk or call 01431 821655.

Dog-Friendly Discovery Walks

Our Dog-Friendly Discovery Walks offer the same benefits at the Discovery Walks, except you can bring your dog along too! Rather than creating a walk journal, each walk is followed by a gathering of walkers at a local cafe during which discussions include photographs and inspiration from the walk. To join the Dog-Friendly Walks email wendy@connectingcommunities.co.uk or call 01431 821655.

All our Discovery Walks are made possible thanks to funding from The Highland Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.
